Fire Extinguishers

Specify, Supply and Installation

We can assist you in choosing the right type of extinguisher for your premises, with free advice available.

We are delighted to offer a competitive supply and installation service with a free quotation for the appropriate extinguishers for your premises.

Its important to have the right type of extinguisher to fight the fire risk for particular areas of your premises (e.g. if a fire were to break-out in a computer room, it would most likely to be an electrical fire and the best extinguisher to have on hand to fight the fire would be a CO2 type)

Fire Extinguisher Maintenance Contract

It's really important that fire extinguisher maintenance is carried out regularly so that you can be confident that this equipment will work when you need it most.

For your convenience, our Service Department will remind you when your annual service is due and make the necessary arrangements for an engineer to visit.

Many people assume that fire extinguishers will work when they're used, but unless there's a proper programme of fire extinguisher maintenance, this may not be the case.

You need to be sure that your fire extinguishers are in good working order. Not only can we ensure that your fire extinguisher maintenance is up to date, we can also advise you on fire extinguisher cover for new and relocated areas.

After an extinguisher has been used, even if only partially, it must be recharged or replaced and all extinguishers should be fully serviced annually.

Service Engineers

Dragon Fire & Security Systems Ltd offers you fully qualified UK Fire Association approved Service Engineers with many years of experience. Our engineers are knowledgeable and qualified to service all makes of fire extinguishers and can advise or carry out free surveys when required. You will find our engineers friendly and helpful.

Each engineer carries a wide range of spares along with the special tools required for some makes of extinguishers.

Fire Training

When a fire breaks out, it is not the time to learn how to use your fire extinguisher.

No fire safety plan is complete without adequate training. Involvement in a fire is stressful enough without the added pressure of not knowing how to protect yourself and your property.

Our team of qualified technicians can train your staff to take proper action during a fire or workplace emergency.

There's no more effective training than witnessing the technique required to wield a loaded fire extinguisher at the base of a fire during a controlled live fire demonstration to make the process seem like second nature.

Using a fire Extinguisher

Before using your fire extinguisher, be sure to read the instructions before it's too late. Although there are many different types of fire extinguishers, all of them operate in a similar manner.

Use this acronym as a quick reference (it is a good idea to print this reference and pin it next to your fire extinguisher):

PASS

  • Pull the Pin at the top of the extinguisher. The pin releases a locking mechanism and will allow you to discharge the extinguisher.
  • Aim at the base of the fire, not the flames. This is important - in order to put out the fire, you must extinguish the fuel.
  • Squeeze the lever slowly. This will release the extinguishing agent in the extinguisher. If the handle is released, the discharge will stop.
  • Sweep from side to side. Using a sweeping motion, move the fire extinguisher back and forth until the fire is completely out. Operate the extinguisher from a safe distance, several feet away, and then move towards the fire once it starts to diminish. Be sure to read the instructions on your fire extinguisher - different fire extinguishers recommend operating them from different distances. Remember: Aim at the base of the fire, not at the flames!

Fire Extinguisher Training

Your fire extinguishers will only work effectively and be in full working order if they have been regularly checked and serviced by a qualified and competent Service Engineer.
